Evaluation - Question 4

What have you learned from your audience feedback?

Evaluation - Question 3

How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planing and evaluation stages?

To make our music video, we had to research, plan, make and evaluate .To do this i used various media technologies.

For the research i mostly used the internet, I went on websites like youtube.Youtube was the main website i used to watch music videos, there are many videos which made it easier to get ideas for our music video. We saw good and bad videos to make sure our video was done properly.

We used blogger to blog about everything we done, if we watched a video on youtube we would blog about it and how it helps with our music video. If we would have some ideas for our video by blogging about it, it helped us to remember so then we could use it. It was a step by step blog so everyone else can know how we created our video and what inspired us to do it the way we did. I am also using blogger now to write up my evaluation and bringing everything together.
I used different multimedia to make my blog interesting. I included videos, images  so it would all be visible and for me to remember what i have done and how i did it.

We used final cut pro to plan our video as well as editing it.
We created an animatic when we were planning our music video so we had a idea of what we wanted it to look like. We used pictures from google to create the background then used dolls as if they were the artist in our video.
Here is the animatic we created using Final Cut Pro:  http://candipop11group25.blogspot.com/2011/10/animatic-of-our-music-video.html

For editing our music video,  Final Cut Pro was the programme that we used. This helped us create the best       music video. Our video needed a lot of edits to be the best it could be.
The track was added first then the shots from the music video and we were able to put them anywhere we wanted and see where it worked.

Dafont website
I used photoshop to construct my advertisement and digipak. Photoshop helped me to create my ancillary products in a way that it would be recognizable to people and linked to the music video. It enabled me to use pictures of the artist combined with other things such as text. There were various fonts we could use but i chose to                          use a font from another website http://www.dafont.com/, and then downloaded it into photoshop.

These are my ancillary products made on photoshop:

Finally the most important technology used to make the music video was brand new state of the art video cameras. The camera was great for filming, we had memory cards to save all of the shots we filmed to then putting them together on final cut pro.

Question 2

How effective is the combination of your main product (video) and ancillary texts ( digipak and advertisement) ?

My ancillary products have a lot of visual links between it and the music video. Both the digipak and the advertisement have pictures of the artist from the music video.

The advertisement has the name of the artist and the name of the album in bold writing which is visible to the audience. The picture of the artist is of him sitting in an estate which most of the video was filmed at. He is also wearing the same style of clothes as he was in the music video. This all makes it recognizable to the audience.

My digipak also has the name of the artist and the name of the album quite visible to the audience.
It has the same font as the advertisement. The picture of the artist is the same as the advertisement picture which the audience will recognize.

Evaluation- Question 1

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

For the music video, Master B - In The Air, we used conventions that are common in contemporary music videos. We developed the idea of paranoia which is used in the original music video . We done this as the aspect of paranoia is linked with the lyrics which is about becoming famous and paranoid. The original video influenced us a lot and we changed some of its traditional ideas.Unlike the original, which shows a storyline and no artist, we gave the artist more time on the camera using close ups. We also used a motif which in our video its visible and shown multiple of times, whereas the original music video has a motif but its only seen in the beginning.

Other videos that influenced us were Professor Green Ft Maverick Sabre- Jungle, the aspect of it's visual style gave us the idea of shooting the video in estates to stick to the genre of grime.

In our music video we used forms and conventions of real media products. From the research we done in september we used Carol Vernallis observations. Throughout our music video, the camera moves in time with the music, edits are really obvious to draw attention to themselves.
We also used the forms and conventions from Andrew Goodwin's views. While performing the artist looks directly at the camera which involves the viewer at home with the performance. We also repeated shots which Andrew Goodwin says : Videos rely on repetition.

Mock up

Analysis of three digipaks that relate to your genre

This digipak relates to the grime genre, the brick wall where the artist is leaning against represents estates and relates to the music from the artist . The name of the artist is white and bold which is simple but gets the attention from the audience - young urban teenagers.
The artist is leaning on the wall with his arms behind his back and looking away from the camera.
He is wearing dark clothing and trainers representing young urban teenagers.

Hello Jessica

Look hun, we'd appreciate it if you didn't tag yourself in photos or videos of days we where filming on as you didn't show up for them. if you choose to retag yourself this will be pointless as Rebecca wil happily not mark them.

Thanks

Group 25: Status update

93 clips in one memory card

We've finished filming, we have over 100 shots, 60-80 of which we will use for the editing which we are doing now. However editing is going rather slow because we frequently find parts of the clips that aren't good enough for the editing. Each shot has about 10 - 20 seconds, in total we have about 20 minutes film time. Right now Ben and Seb are getting the editing done whilst Julien and Jessica are blogging.

College Closed: Monday 7th November

On Monday the 7th of November, college was closed due to there being a college opening day on the Saturday, which meant that the college was closed on monday so all teachers & staff had 2 days off like a normal weekend. As a result of this our set is behind on editing however we should be able to pick up the momentum and be successful.

Filming : Seb Scenes and why they weren't used

We decided to try and film shots of Seb as a second motif. He plays as the character who constantly appears out of no where, causing Julien to increase in paranoia. Here are 2 shots of Seb:

Walking into the camera

Sneak past behind Julien

We decided in the end not to use Seb as a motif as it proved to be a bit cheesy and we didn't have enough good ideas to film more shots of him.

Editing: iShowU Capture

We used the program iShowU to record what we were doing on screen while editing

Group 25 final thoughts on filming

video is a short summary on what we thought about the filming

Editing: Base Track 1

This is a section of what will be in our music video. however only a percentage of this footage will be used as some bits are too dark, camera work is a bit rugid at parts, but in all here are some good panning and close up shots.

Group 25 begins editing

My group begins editing...

Editing: Session 1

Today is our first full lesson editing as we missed the first lesson this week as college was closed.
Here are some screenshots of the editing process, using Final Cut Pro

These are some screen shots of us Editing a small section of our music video. Were particularly working on the night scenes shots of the video in this section of the lesson.

Above is a screen shot of the selected footages that we are using which are highlighted in colour, green being (Masta B)Bens performance shots and the blue ones being Juliens performance scenes.

This is a shot of Julien walking in Old street, in final cut we where working on linking this shot with Bens performance scenes then match cutting it back to Julien walking.
This is a screen shot of Ben perfroming as Masta B in final cut as you can see in the image there are base tracks stacked below with several makers indicating the imagery to of in time with the beat of the song. This would be at every four beat, the song being In The Air by Pro Green.
